Typical applications
- Large diameter drilled shafts
- Bridges, viaducts and port structures
- Tall buildings with concentrated loads
- Projects with limited space to set up surface reaction
Bidirectional load cell installed inside the pile that applies load simultaneously upward and downward, without a reaction structure at the surface.
Request a proposalIn large diameter piles, the test load can exceed the practical capacity of any surface reaction system. The bidirectional load cell, also known as the Osterberg cell, solves the problem by using the pile itself as the reaction: the lower part mobilizes end bearing resistance and the upper part mobilizes shaft friction.
The result allows reconstructing the equivalent curve of the conventional static test and verifying very high loads safely.
